The food & beverage industry uses large quantities of water of different qualities. These are used, among other things, as basic raw materials for cleaning, cooling processes, sterilization and pasteurisation, the production of products and steam.

All these types of water require specific quality requirements and can be made on the basis of different water sources, such as surface water, tap water, effluent from the waste water treatment

The most commonly used techniques for the production of the various required qualities are based on membrane technology and/or ion exchange, often followed by disinfection techniques to obtain microbiologically stable or germ-free water.
